After years on the run, a former Weather Underground militant, Nick Sloan aka Jim Grant learns his old compatriots arrest bank robbery that turned deadly in 1970, which sought an accomplice. It makes an ambitious young local reporter, Ben Shepard, in the wake of a story that exposes Nick as well. As an example, Nick is going to run, taking her daughter's safety. What accomplishments, Nick remains one step ahead of the FBI followed a faint hope that his name clean.
